My wife of 4 years gave birth to our son, Hugh, on Saturday.
If any part of that statement caught you off guard, this blog definitely is for you. If you wished you heard some part of that from me directly, this blog is for you too. Wonder what I've been up to? Yeah, you'll want to read this.
Back in high school I use to write about events in my life through email, sending some 100 messages through my free Juno email account to the 12 people that would actually read it. I can't remember what happened back then, and more exciting things probably happened during a 12-hour layover at the airport, but people knew about it! Mundane things were happening, and they were mundane because everything else was already known about.
Things aren't like that anymore. I keep in touch with the people I care about like I'm riding a Shetland pony for the Pony Express. After moving away from so many good friends and family over the past few years, and then wishing I let them know about the important things (let alone the mundane), I need to try something else. Hopefully I can fill you in more here. Think of it as personal and the next time we meet, I won't catch you off guard.
Later.

ReplyDeleteYay for blogs!!
ReplyDeleteI remember those e-mails... I might still have a few on my old account...
ReplyDeleteClay. I was just thinking about those emails recently and how they were a great predecessor to a blog. in fact, I said to someone, I wish Clay was still writing- he's so great at that!!!! (I am NOT LYING). I have a blog too- we can be blog buddies. Keep it up. And congratulations buddy- can't wait to meet the little guy (it might just be time for me to come to NY!)
ReplyDeleteDear Clay, (Or Matthew Awesome that might have a few of his old emails),
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of stuff is happening in your life, but if you could somehow find the coolguyclay report about driving back from the beach with your brother, and said brother perhaps getting lost....my life would be made. (Since A. that bonding time was fun, and B. it was top ten worthy of all your coolguyclay reports).
Congrats daddy! I am so happy for you and Jess. :)
