Teleporcraisin.

We have a car seat for Hugh that pops in and out of base. The base is always attached to our car, but we can take Hugh out without having to undo buckles, straps and all that stuff that tends to turn a calm, sleeping baby into an upset, screaming baby. Going to church, a store or another house is quite painless because Hugh comes in one convenient 30lb bundle that links in the nook of my elbow (the seat ain't light, Hugh only weighs about 15 pounds now). He is also pretty calm in his seat, often happily napping, but I think that catches him off-guard sometimes.

Hugh sleeps great at night and is an above average napper during the day. Jess tells me he'll take big ol' naps throughout the day and not even cry once. Other times he doesn't nap so well, or at all, and will constantly cry (like the reason he's strapped to me in the Baby Bjorn at this moment), but those are rare occasions. A baby book we are trying to follow says that when a baby wakes up happy from a nap they will talk and coo, but if they wake up from a bad nap they will wake up crying or screaming. The first is certainly better than the latter! There are some times, however, that I think Hugh wakes up crying for something else.

Teleportation. Yeah, you heard me. At least that must be what it feels like to close your eyes in one environment (the car, your room, etc) and open them what feels like seconds later in the middle of the grocery store, at the church nursery or with a giant head so close to yours you do not even have an idea where you are. That would probably scare me too! I wonder what goes through our baby's mind when he teleports in his sleep? Probably the same thing that went through my mind when I reached into my shirt pocket at work the other day and pulled out a craisin, It was outrageous, egregious, preposterous! When did I last eat a craisin? Or worse yet, when did I last eat a cranberry?!! While I didn't cry about it, it may be something only Hugh can understand.
